Silversea Expeditions: Connecting With the Inuit
As I look back on our Silversea Expeditions experience, despite the beautiful things we witnessed, connecting with the Inuit people was the most meaningful.
From our first landing in the small village of Kimmirut, with a population of only 455 people, we found welcoming and seemingly love-filled eyes staring back at us.
They were happy people living in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere. They were glad to see us and cheerfully welcomed us to their little Arctic village.
The same was true when members from the village of Kinngait came aboard our ship to share their way of life with us.
And I know this is true because when our Silversea photographer and videographer created this video from our journey and played it for all of us to see, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
These people touched our hearts. And while I don’t suppose you will feel the same connection with these folks, take a peek at the video that had us all in tears.
Carol and I will always have a special place in our hearts for the people we met in Kimmiruit and Kinngait. And Mary Rose, the narrator of this video, was on the ship with us, so we also got to spend a little time getting to know her.
Folks, we highly recommend you experience the Canadian Arctic with Silversea Expeditions. While you are certain to see beautiful landscapes filled with spectacular flora and fauna, it is the Inuit people who will have the biggest impact on your heart.
