Our Story: From Roaming to Travel Advising

Before we were travel advisors, we were just like many of our clients—hardworking, successful professionals with big dreams of seeing the world. Back in Michigan, we owned a mortgage company and made a promise to each other: let’s live wisely now so we can retire and travel when David turns 50.

We pulled it off. On David’s 50th birthday in 2006, we sold our last asset, moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and set off to explore the world. But just two years later, the 2008 financial crisis hit—and like many others, we lost over half our assets. Retirement was no longer an option.

It was a humbling moment, but it also sparked something new. With a passion for travel and storytelling, we launched a blog called The Roaming Boomers to document our adventures. What started as a creative outlet soon struck a chord. Readers began asking, “Can you help us plan trips like these?”

The answer was yes—and in 2014, Roaming Boomers Travel Services was born.

Over a decade later, we’ve traded blogging for full-time luxury travel advising, helping thousands of travelers explore the world with confidence, comfort, and elevated service.
