Multnomah Falls in Oregon
Multnomah Falls in Oregon
Carol and I visited Multnomah Falls in Oregon as we made our way down the Columbia River sailing with American Queen Voyages.
As we began our journey, the first thought that came to mind was that the scenery was far more beautiful than I had expected.
And this was particularly true when we entered the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
According to a sign at the park, Multnomah Falls is visited by over two million people each year.
Further, Multnomah Falls is the second-highest year-round waterfall in the United States and one of 77 waterfalls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge.
Multnomah Creek, created by underground springs from Larch Mountain, feeds the falls as it plunges off steep basalt cliffs.
The water flow varies but is most spectacular in the winter and spring. At its fullest, the falls plummet 543 feet to the upper plunge pool descend another 69 feet, plus an additional 8 feet in between to total a 620-foot waterfall.
Another surprise we enjoyed during our visit were the Big Leaf Maple leaves we found all over the ground.
We enjoyed our visit to Multnomah Falls and would highly encourage a visit if you are in the area.

NICE!
It is an absolutely beautiful waterfall. Enjoy! But when you park to go look at the magnificent beauty be very very sure to not leave ANYTHING visible in your vehicle or you will come back to a vehicle with a broken window and your belongings gone!
