Bing Offers New Airport Maps
Microsoft’s Bing announced today that it is now offering new airport maps on their popular venue Bing Maps.
The new airport maps give you everything you need to navigate your way through your travels. Airport maps include information on parking garages, ticket counter location, terminals and gates, baggage claims, currency exchange and more! You’ll also see a sortable directory of airlines, cafes and restaurants.
With airport signs readily pointing me in the right directions, I generally don’t use airport maps. However, this would be real handy to find a particular spot inside an airport (Starbucks for example).
You can also find an airport’s map by simply typing your flight number in the Bing search bar. Not only will Bing present the timeliness of your flight, but it will also offer up a map if you like.
One feature I did like was the ability to send the map to my iPhone. I sent this map of Phoenix Sky Harbor to my phone, hit the GPS button and it showed my exact location in the airport. Again, a real nice feature if your looking for a particular place inside of an airport.
There is also a large directory to the left of the map which shows you all of the available baggage claim areas, ticketing areas, restaurants, and much more. It even has the ability to display which level your desired location is at.
As of this writing, there are maps for 42 airports covering most of the medium and large hub airports in the United States. Bing says to keep an eye out for others to be coming online soon.
Thanks Bing!
Great! Thank for the tip.
