Best Time of Year to Visit Ireland
Best Time of Year to Visit Ireland
Are you wondering about the best time of the year to visit Ireland?
From a longitudinal standpoint, Dublin, Ireland, and Ketchikan, Alaska sit at comparable latitudes.
So that means cool summer temperatures and long summer days.
If you click the map to the right, you will notice that the high temps for the year occur in July with an average high of 68º.
Further, because of Ireland’s northern position globally, you will get to enjoy up to 17 hours of daylight.
Further still, it is important to note that Ireland receives 2 – 3 inches of rain every month of the year. So a light raincoat is recommended.
If you’re looking to experience some of Ireland’s festivals, you will want to visit in the busy summer months. However, consider visiting in April, May, September, and October to avoid the crowds and enjoy lower fares.

Our granddaughter was married in Ireland last April and due to Covid restrictions, etc., only her parents were able to attend, being quarantined for 10 days before the wedding…in Belfast.
Now, the newlyweds will be celebrating THE wedding around their first anniversary — with a banquet, dancing and celebrating what they could not do last April.
Question: Many of us are planning on flying to Belfast (or to Dublin and then taking a train?). We are a big family living in various parts of the USofA …. Is this something you would like to work on? Please let us know what you think. We live in Terravita and should fly from PHX …. Others in the family are also in the PHX area, but also Boston, OK City, Dallas, Chicago and DC.
Basically, the primary goal is flight info. Some of the group may want to travel within Ireland….
Hi Pat,
Great to hear from you. I’ll send you an email. Stay tuned.
