The Windsor Court Hotel: Unparalleled Luxury in New Orleans
Luxury baby boomer travelers headed to New Orleans need look no farther than the impeccable grandeur and luxury found at the city’s Windsor Court Hotel.
Located in the popular Central Business District, and just a stones throw from the historic French Quarter, the Windsor Court Hotel is the only hotel in New Orleans, and in all of Louisiana, to receive both Forbes Four Stars (formerly Mobil) and AAA Four Diamonds Awards.
The Windsor Court hotel just received a $22 million restoration which is certain to carry on its position as the primary choice for the most discriminating New Orleans travelers, from world leaders and royalty to professional athletes, business leaders and other celebrities.
More than 80% of the property’s accommodations are suites, and in addition to its heralded service, atmosphere and amenities, the Windsor Court is also home to a unique and extensive art collection that features works by artists such as Van Dyck, Gainsborough and Huysman.
We enjoyed a taste of the Windsor Court’s heralded service after we finished our two day visit and moved to visit another hotel property.
We weren’t in the other hotel for more than 10 minutes before we realized that we were not going to be able to give the new hotel a good review. Rather than write a bad review, we called the Windsor Court and asked if we might move back.
With a large convention in town, the Windsor Court moved heaven and earth to again accommodate us for another two nights. Thanks Windsor Court! Most hotels would not have worked so hard to make that happen.
We enjoyed a “Full Suite” which offered us 800 sq. ft. of space, two flat-screen televisions, a butler’s pantry, large dressing and vanity area, Italian marble bath, complimentary Internet, iHome docking stations, and french doors offering privacy between the bedroom and living room.
Further, the rooms and suites also offer upgraded amenities, such as: Frette linens; oversized Molton Brown bath products; personalized evening turndown service; Keurig coffee makers; plush terry robes and slippers; and state-of-the-art electronics, and jack pack connections that allow guests to seamlessly connect their personal technology to the TV via various ports with cables available upon request.
We were in town speaking on a panel at the AARP National Convention so we found ourselves very busy and unable to enjoy many of the hotel’s wonderful features.
Nonetheless, you should know that the hotel also features a 4-Star/4-Diamond restaurant called The Grill Room with nightly New Orleans Jazz and Adult Contemporary music, a brand new spa, a beautiful outdoor pool, and even the city’s best, authentic afternoon teas in Le Salon.
One evening, after a long day of exploring New Orleans, we returned to our hotel to find New Orleans Jazz Singer Meschiya Lake crooning away in the hotel lobby. What a delightful treat! Click here to read our article about Meschiya Lake.
Favorite Memories From the Windsor Court Hotel
- We will always remember the hotel re-accommodating us when we called from a disappointing hotel (see above).
- Our room evoked a definite WOW the minute we walked through the door.
- We loved the nightly music in the lobby.
- Watching the sunrise, and the barges chugging up the Mississippi River from our window.
- The beds are so comfy, you won’t want to get out of bed in the morning.
- I had my very first Sazerac in the Polo Club Lounge. The Sazerac is a New Orleans tradition made from a combination of cognac, absinthe or herbsaint, and Peychaud’s Bitters. Yum!

Hello! I understand this is kind of off-topic however I had to
ask. Does running a well-established blog like yours require a massive amount work?
I’m brand new to operating a blog but I do write in my diary everyday. I’d like to
start a blog so I can easily share my own experience and feelings
online. Please let me know if you have any recommendations or tips for new aspiring blog owners.
Thankyou!
