Weekend Getaway: Conrad Los Angeles
Weekend Getaway: Conrad Los Angeles
Carol and I just spent a glorious luxury weekend getaway at the new Conrad Los Angeles.
The impetus for this getaway was to experience Yuja Wang’s concert with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Conrad Los Angeles is located in the epicenter of LA, with the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the LA Music Center right across the street. Also within walking distance are The Broad (contemporary art museum), the Museum of Contemporary Art, the renowned Angels Flight Railway, and the Grand Central Market.
“Heralded by the vision of legendary architect Frank Gehry, our hotel is an elegant oasis with 305 modern rooms, a rooftop terrace with a private pool deck, a full-service spa, and locally inspired dining. Framed by dramatic views of the Walt Disney Concert Hall and downtown LA, discover energizing experiences that will ignite your inspiration.” ~ Conrad Los Angeles
We agree. Carol and I spent three nights in the new Conrad Los Angeles. And remarkably, we’re already looking for a reason to return for another stay.
From the minute we walked into the 10th-story lobby, with fabulous views of the Walt Disney Concert Halls across the street, we were hooked. I (David) love architecture and have long been a fan of Frank Gehry.
Our corner suite (video link) was spacious and comfortable, giving us remarkable views of the city and surrounding mountains. Here is a beautiful sunrise I captured from our suite.
Not only is the Conrad Los Angeles a beautiful destination luxury hotel, but the restaurants are certain to satisfy the tastes of the most discriminating foodies.
We were lucky to get a reservation at San Laurel, the Conrad’s signature restaurant by Michelin-starred Chef José Andrés. The menu combines Chef Andrés Spanish cuisine with the produce found in Southern California’s year-round farmers’ markets.
We found the cuisine exceptional. I enjoyed a fabulous Rack of Lamb while Carol for opted for an exquisite Wagyu steak. And Carol couldn’t get enough of the restaurant’s signature Vermicelli Mac N’ Cheese. For photos of our dining experience, please CLICK HERE.
Folks, if you’re looking for a wonderful destination for a special getaway, the Conrad Los Angeles is the perfect destination.
With all of the music venues right across the street, coupled with world-renowned restaurants, museums, and tourist sites, we promise you a fabulous experience.
