Tulip-Time in Holland and the Netherlands
Tulip-Time in Holland and the Netherlands
Tulip-time in Holland and the Netherlands usually takes place from the end of March through mid-May.
However, we find that mid-April through early-May generally produces the most excellent opportunity for viewing tulips.
Carol and I enjoyed a river cruise in very early-April a few years ago, and there wasn’t a tulip in sight.
And if you want to see tulips when you visit Holland, then Keukenhof Park is the place to be.
Travel Tip: Holland refers to the provinces of South Holland and North Holland just north and south of Amsterdam. The Netherlands refers to the country as a whole.
Carol and I send scores and scores of folks to Holland each year to view the tulips. Most of them go to visit Amsterdam and then tack a river cruise on the front or back of the journey.
The COVID-19 virus has shut down Keukenhof this year. Consequently, no tulip viewing for 2020. However, this link will bring you Keukenhof virtually.
2021 Tulip-Time River Cruises
We see a rush of river cruise bookings to visit Holland and the Netherlands in 2021. The peek times are selling quickly. Therefore, if seeing the tulips in 2021 is on your bucket list, we recommend that you call us to book immediately.
Here are our recommended river cruise lines for tulip peeking:
- Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection (5-star). Find tulip-time river cruises here, here, and here.
- AmaWaterways (4.5-star). Find tulip-time cruises here, here, and here.
- Viking River Cruises (4-star). Find tulip-time cruises here and here. The Rhine Getaway works too. Go here.
Carol and I have sailed twice with each of these river cruise lines. And while they offer different flavors of river cruising, we can highly recommend them all.
Travel Tip: Many travel brands are offering various flavors of “cancel for any reason” vouchers on future booked journeys. I don’t expect this to last forever, so call to explore the current options. You may also enjoy this important article: Will Cruise Lines Go Bankrupt?
