It is estimated that Yellowstone National Park contains roughly 3,500 American Bison.
As we were approaching the grasslands of Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley, we spied this herd littered with baby bison taking a snooze. While the babies lie about without a care in the world, the mothers remain on the watch for grizzly bears, black bears, and wolves that might like to make an easy meal out of one of these cute young calves.
We got a big kick out of these napping calves who were obviously tired out from a morning of play.
There’re cute, aren’t they?
