Travel Photo: Bodysurfing Bride Immersed in Maui Wave
Note: click photo for larger view
It’s the 3rd of March and Hawaii’s famous trade winds have some nice waves kicking into the shore at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Maui.
No, they aren’t big enough to attract the surfing crowd, but there are scores of the resort’s guests playing in the waves.
Earlier, I spied what appeared to be perhaps newlyweds walking down the beach. You know, young, obviously in love, and hanging all over each other with a stargazed look in their eyes.
In the shake of a monkey’s tail, I noticed the young woman racing towards an incoming wave. Rather than having the wave give her a serious wardrobe malfunction, she dove into the wave and I caught this photo just before the wave broke over her submerged form.
I really like the action of this photograph and the ethereal, impressionistic feeling given to my subject as she swims her way underneath the wave.
I’ve got a lot of folks splashing in the waves on this beautiful Maui day, but this is far and away my favorite.
What do you think, like it?
