Surf’s Up at Scottsdale’s Westin Kierland Resort & Spa

Posted by David Porter on Thursday, January 3, 2013 · 3 Comments

Boomers Surfing Westin KierlandWho says you can’t surf in the desert?

We were recently invited by the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa (Scottsdale, Arizona) to come try out their new FlowRider.

As Carol’s sister and brother-in-law were in town, we said, “you guys ride and we’ll film it”.  Ever the adventure-seeking baby boomers, they instantly agreed.

The FlowRider, or “flowboarding” as its called, is not just a ride, it is a sport, a 21st Century alchemy that has the look of surfing, the ride of snowboarding, the tricks of skateboarding, and boards derived from wakeboarding.

Thrilling to ride, thrilling to watch, and designed to handle wipeouts. The FlowRider‘s waveform is a proprietary composite membrane ride surface that is designed to absorb the energy of impacts. Flowboarders may wipe out, but they’ll get back up again and again and again.

The best part about the Kierland Flowrider is that no skill is required to flowboard for the very first time, thus making this latest boardsport appreciated by all ages.

Hey Boomers, if you’re looking for a little adventure, or perhaps a wonderful way to entertain the grandkids, head on over to the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Surf’s up!
