Sunday Brunch at Waldorf Astoria New York City
Since 1931, the world famous Waldorf=Astoria hotel has graced Manhattan’s Park Avenue and has offered world-class lodging to the rich, famous, and ordinary folks who desire a healthy dose of pampering right in the heart of New York City.
The Waldorf=Astoria is renowned in the culinary world for its famous Waldorf Salad, Red-Velvet Cake, as well as its elaborate Sunday Brunch.
During a recent visit to New York City we were very excited to have Sunday Brunch at the Waldorf=Astoria on our itinerary.
First impressions of the Waldorf=Astoria are quit remarkable as the structure occupies an entire block right in the heart of New York City’s famous shopping districts and certainly some of the most expensive real estate in the world.
As we walked through the front door, our eyes widened as we drank in the beautiful art deco art, architecture, decor and realized that we were standing in what might be described as a living museum in the world of hospitality.
Sunday Brunch at Waldorf-Astoria is hosted in the world-famous Peacock Alley. Inspired by the grand social promenade that connected the original Waldorf and Astoria hotels, Sunday Brunch at Peacock Alley today creates an wonderful environment to “see and be seen”, as well as a certain amount of amazement as you behold a feast before you that would certainly be suitable to a king or queen.
“…one of our most epic Sunday brunches”
Our hostess tucked us away in an intimate section of the room, were immediately offered a flute of bubbly, and off we went to explore the lavish feast.
Located under the Waldorf=Astoria’s famous 9-ft clock was spread every imaginable Sunday brunch delight. We noshed on salads, oysters, shrimp, lobster, eggs, sausages, flaming crepes, omelets, beef wellington, and sampled bites from a dazzling display of desserts.
And while the famous red-velvet cake wasn’t on display, all I needed to do was share my disappointment and I was immediately brought a piece from the kitchen. Thanks! YUM!
You know, as I consider what makes a memorable Sunday brunch, it’s all about the experience. When I look back on our Sunday brunch experience at the Waldorf=Astoria, the amalgamation of the setting, the food, the pampering and attentive staff, and of course my beautiful wife, all blended together to create one of our most epic Sunday brunches.
Thank you Waldorf=Astoria, and congratulations on a job very, very well done!
