Silversea Expeditions: Spectacular Arctic Drone Video
Silversea Expeditions: Spectacular Arctic Drone Video
I am a little more than halfway through sharing our Arctic Silversea Expeditions cruise, but I thought I should stop and show you one of the spectacular drone videos captured by our onboard photographer/videographer, Eric Duran.
I enjoy man-made things. When I say this, I am thinking of Luciano Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma, standing in front of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Coliseum in Rome, a Da Vinci painting, or any number of the dining experiences we’ve enjoyed with the world’s best chefs.
But what stirs me the most is to stand in the presence of God-made things.
I can’t explain it. Tears flowed down my face when I first stood on the rim of the Grand Canyon. And when I had a few solitary moments sailing in the Arctic with Silversea Expeditions, in the presence of creation’s splendor, I found myself again unable to speak with tears flowing down my face.
Other than those on our ship, we were in one of the world’s remotest regions. No cell phones were ringing, and no politicians were sending me unwanted test messages. None of the things that press in on us in this busy world were here.
It was just me, my bride, fellow passengers, and this spectacularly beautiful landscape.
The drone photo (above), captured by Eric Duran, perhaps captures the moment. I was on the deck of that ship in this remarkable landscape. There were no sounds other than the occasional breeze and the hundreds of thousands of birds that could be faintly heard in the distance.
Finding myself in such a setting stirs my soul and creates a longing for more.
So, dear friend, let me encourage you to find your special remote part of the world. Stand in the silence. Drink in the surrounding panorama. And just breathe.
I hope you enjoy Eric Duran’s video:
Note: Eric’s photograph at the top was taken in a fjord in Greenland, where this video is from his footage in the Canadian Arctic.

Your description of how you feel in the presence of God-made things had me weeping because that is exactly how I respond to these kind of magnificent sights, and spectacular landscapes and wildlife
