A Saguaro Prays Before a Sunset in Scottsdale, Arizona

Praying Saguaro
This week’s #FriFotos Internet meme is “orange”.

#FriFotos was started in 2010 by Jonathan Epstein (@EpsteinTravels). At the beginning of each week the #FriFotos teams shares a theme for each Friday’s #FriFotos, and folks from all over the planet scour their photo databases for their best topical entry.  There are no prizes involved, just people sharing photographs around a common theme.

A few years ago, I was out shooting one of Arizona’s remarkable sunsets, when I spied a silhouetted saguaro cactus in my lens.  As I began framing the photograph to include the saguaro, I noticed that it appeared as though the cactus was bowing his head with folded hands, as if praying before the setting sun.

See it?

This has become one of my most treasured photographs, and was the first “orange” photograph that came to my mind for this weeks #FriFotos fun.

We hope you enjoy it.
