Today is day #1 of our 7-day boomer road trip. The challenge: four baby boomers, one vehicle, seven days, and no first degree murder.
With the back of “Babe the Blue Benz” packed full of luggage, we headed off to Williams, Arizona where we will spend our first night at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel & Resort.
Tomorrow morning, we will climb aboard the Grand Canyon Railway and chug our way to the Grand Canyon, where our friends, Bob and Karen Schroeder, will get their very first glimpse of the Grand Canyon.
In the photograph above, you can see Carol, Karen, and Bob trying to decide which way to go.
Grand Canyon Sunset – A few years ago, I was at the Grand Canyon with my son Joshua, on a father-son exploration of northern Arizona.
We found a spot on the south rim of the Grand Canyon to wait for the sun to set, and this was the remarkable view that appeared before our eyes.
I can’t explain the incredible beauty of this place. You should also know that it is an incredibly difficult place to photograph with all the light contrasts.
But, I can share this, the first time I stood at the rim of the Grand Canyon, my eyes welled up with tears. It is that beautiful.
In two days, I will again stand at the rim of the Grand Canyon. I can’t wait, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Wish Restaurant ~ Miami’s South Beach, Florida – When we travel to a large metropolitan area, one of the tasks at the top of our list is to find incredible dining experiences for our readers and subscribers.
As Carol was doing her homework to find a wonderful restaurant in Miami Beach, she found the following accolades for this tucked-away gem:
Conde Nasté Traveler – 50 Best New Restaurants in the World.
Food and Wine Magazine – 50 Best Hotel Restaurants in the US.
Mobil Travel Guide Four-Star Award
AAA Four-Diamond Award
Wish’s interior décor by fashion designer Todd Oldham is stunning, and sets the stage for what will become one of our most memorable meals.
A large part of the success story at Wish has been its ongoing evolution in the kitchen. Celebrating ten years of excellence, the restaurant has called some of the country’s top toques “chef,” garnered accolades in Food & Wine and Esquire and consistent rave reviews for its cuisine and service. Currently at the helm is executive chef Marco Ferraro, a rising star talent whose unpretentious, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine perfectly blends comfort and sophistication.
I can without reservation proclaim that Wish restaurant has made its way into my top-five favorites, and will easily come to recollection when people inquire of our favorite dining establishments.
Rather than continue to gush my way with words, I thought I would simply show you our experience. Enjoy!
Disclosure: our most excellent dining experience was provided by the kind folks at Wish Restaurant, Miami Beach. Thank You!
