New at this but it looks like the “best available” could be the lowest level room without a balcony. When and how is that selection made?
Hi Dave,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your question. When Viking runs these non-advertised sales, best available means that you can reserve the best available stateroom in their promotion. In this case, they took their three standard categories of rooms and made them all available at a significant discount to their lowest priced rooms. So, you could get a french balcony room, first-come-first-served, for less than the normal cost of a room in the lowest level of the ship. Those who acted first, got the best available. AND, they also separately substantially discounted their balcony rooms.
Because we have a great relationship with Viking, they send us an email and ask us to spread the good news to our clients and readers. So, the best way to keep abreast of these non-advertised specials is to subscribe to our weekly newsletter. When these come available, we sent out a special announcement.
If you have further questions, please feel free to drop us a call. We’d be honored to help in any way we can. These Viking River Cruises are a blast, and we’d love the opportunity to help you enjoy one soon. 🙂
