Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel ~ Alberta, Canada – As we pulled through the beautiful town of Banff, and rounded the corner to this majestic view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, our jaws dropped at the sheer beauty and majesty of Canada’s “Castle in the Rockies”.

What our baby boomer hearts were not prepared for was the gobsmacking view we would find in our room as we looked out at glorious long-range views of the Canadian Rockies.

From the moment we walked in the front door, we felt as if we had just joined the untold millions of common folk, royalty, and movie stars who were certain to have been kept spellbound by the sheer size, age, and history that has been written inside these walls.

In fact, we were so enamored, we eagerly signed up for a 90 minute historical tour.  We saw rooms where royalty lay their heads, private areas for the mega-famous to hide away, a wonderfully ornate ballroom, a stunning dining atrium with unbelievable mountain views, dining halls that bespoke times of kings and queens, and a seemingly infinite number of cozy hide-a-ways to sneak away and enjoy a bottle of wine with your lover.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is so huge that you could literally dine in a different spot for a week and never feel like you were in the same place.  There is even a German restaurant tucked away down the mountain-side on the river.

One thing is for certain, our three-night stay did not even scratch the surface of the adventure, exploration, and first-rate experiences that are available here.  We are certain to make another visit.

If I have one regret, it is that I didn’t videotape some of the other guests who were walking around totally smitten by this “Castle in the Rockies”.  I could have easily provided you with people from all over the world who would attest to our spectacular statements.

The Fairmont  Banff Springs Hotel belongs on the bucket list of every single luxury baby boomer traveler.  The memories we found here definitely left us hungering for more.
