Boomer Travel Bloggers Learning About AARP Travel Discounts
We’ve just returned from a trip to Atlanta, Georgia where AARP flew in a passel of boomer travel bloggers to learn and share about travel discounts available through AARP Member Advantages.
Our rendezvous took place at AARP’s Life@50+ National Event where thousands of boomers and seniors gathered to learn about issues that affect these two generations. Topics included health, work and retirement, money, home and family issues, entertainment, food, politics, and near to our heart: travel.
On the first day of the event, we all met in the massive exhibit hall to be introduced to a few of the national travel brands that were present to exhibit their special travel discounts to the AARP community. Here are just a two of the AARP travel benefits we learned about:
AARP Member Travel Benefits
- Avis offers AARP members savings up to 30%, a free upgrade, a Garmin GPS for $6.99/day, 24-hour roadside assistance, special insurance coverage, as well as great international rates.
- Expedia has a special AARP Travel Center on their website where they offer AARP members discounts on airlines, hotels, rental cars, cruises, travel activities, and more.
While these were two of the biggies we noticed, the list of travel deals available to AARP members was seemingly endless. While we might not always agree with some of the politics of AARP, there’s no question that they’ve collected a massive amount of valuable and money saving benefits for their members.
In closing, we would be remiss if we didn’t introduce you to some of our boomer travel blogging friends. Please check out the websites of Donna and Alan at My Itchy Travel Feet, David and Veronica at The GypsyNesters, Chris at Chris Cruises, Christine Krzyszton, Zipporah Sandler at Champagne Living, Lisa at Grandma’s Briefs, Donna Manz, Max at Go Nomad, and Robert at Boomer Places.

Thanks for the mention! It was great visiting with the Roaming Boomers yet again. We need to make this a regular happening. Boomers rule!
Donna,
It was indeed wonderful to hang out with you again. We look forward to meeting Alan one day soon. He really does exist, right? 😀
A passel of boomer travel bloggers? Like a pod of whales or a murder of crows? Love it!

Great to meet you guys as well. Keep up the good work.
AARP….why didn’t I ever think of that? I always think of elderly people when I consider AARP…but now, I am off to join! One of these days, Randy and I will hop on one of your trips, but at this time, we are on a different kind of journey…post double lung transplant for Randy, age 57!
Hi Tam, thanks for stopping by. Lung transplant???? Oh my! 😯
