War breaks out between Ukraine and Russia. How does this affect your European travel plans for 2022?
No doubt, you have heard the disturbing news that Russia has invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine.
As we ponder this new reality in light of the travel plans that many of us have in store for European destinations in 2022, I think this requires that we take a wait and see mentality.
The sad and likely scenario is that Ukraine will fall to the overpowering forces against them. And while we pray that a diplomatic solution might turn the tide of war, life will go on in the European NATO countries where many of us have cruises and land journeys booked.
And further, as you can see on the map, this conflict is quite far removed from the European countries where most of us desire to travel.
Carol and I have three European journeys booked in 2022 for ourselves. And while we will be keeping a careful eye on developments, I’m guessing that the Ukrainian situation will not affect our travel plans.
Therefore, our advice is to sit tight, don’t panic, and let’s keep a watchful eye on the situation. I know that many of you are so excited to see the Omicron situation resolving and looking forward to getting back to travel.
