Top 10 Most Expensive Luxury Hotels in 2011
A recent survey conducted by Luxury-hotels.com determined the most expensive luxury hotels in the world. The rankings are based on the average nightly rate for a standard double room in the summer months of 2011.
Astonishingly, three of the top six hotels on the list are located in the Italian seaside resort town of Porto Cervo, Sardignia. At $2,335 a night, Hotel Pitrizza is the second most expensive hotel, falling just behind the Maia Resort and Spa in the Seychelles for the number one spot. Hotel Cala di Volpe, another Porto Cervo location, is the fourth on the list at $2,286 a night, while Hotel Romazzino is sixth with a nightly rate of $2,115.
As the hub of the Emerald Coast, Porto Cervo has become a popular destination for well-heeled travelers. In addition to an exclusive yacht club and pristine beaches, celebrity sightings are common. A-list stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Bar Refaeli and Steven Spielberg have increased the town’s fame by vacationing there, causing prices in the popular destination to skyrocket even further. Visitors can expect to see wealthy travelers spending their time sunbathing on the beach or shopping at upscale boutiques by day and partying on giant yachts by night.
Below are the rankings of the Top 10 most expensive luxury hotels in 2011:
1. Maia Luxury Resort & Spa (Anse Louis, Seychelles) $2,455
2. Hotel Pitrizza (Porto Cervo, Italy) $2,335

Wow! Those prices for a double? That is crazy. We like luxury like the next person, but that’s a bit much – an understatement, right?
Veering away from the side of pretension is the way we like to roll!…
But we’d be curious to walk through the grounds to check it all out.
